How do you explain attraction? If you can do that, you may have the answer to your question.
One can ask a straight person: What is it about the same sex that you do not like? Does the same sex repulse you? Maybe it is a psychological thing.
Well, you're right that it's psychological. Attraction is very much a brain activity. When a person feels strong attraction for another, the brain pumps chemicals into your body. Some involuntary reactions occur (heartbeat increase, "butterflies" in the stomach, irrational thinking).
So, why is a homosexual not attracted to someone of the opposite sex? You might as well ask someone why he/she doesn't like bald men, fat chicks, or smokers. Attraction is a hard concept to explain.

I wouldn't say I'm repulsed by the female form. In fact I think the female body is beautiful. I'm just not attracted to it.
Generally speaking, I like the opposite sex. I have close friendships with women and I wouldn't trade them for the world but at the same time I could never be in a romantic relationship with any of them.

To wax Socratic:
What is it about the opposite sex that attracts YOU?
Does the same sex repulse YOU?
Do you think this is a psychological thing or do you believe you were made the way you are?
Best Wishes!

Sometimes it is not that we do not like or hate being with the opposite sex, its just that we don't 'mesh' well with them and feel more comfortable being with the same sex. I believe its more of a bonding and understanding that we get from the same sex is what homosexuals like. It may be sexual too. Some men or women feel that the opposite sex may not know how to please them no matter how much they try to 'teach' them how to. Its all on the individual. I myself (a lesbian) feel more comfortable in a homosexual environment because i feel like those kind of people I can relate to more and would rather be around.

No, I really like the opposite sex..I have many good female friends who have been around for a long time...Female nudity doesn't bother me.....repulse is a word that is pretty ugly in itself...I think that all of life is beautiful..including naked bodies and sexual identities...why worry about something that you can't change...celebrate the differences...I'm a gay male.
It's NEVER been a question of not liking women..it's always been a question of being attracted to men.

I identify as homosexual because I prefer men to women sexually. It's not that I don't like women. I do and many are talented in bed. I just can't see myself settling down with someone who doesn't turn me on 100% and thinking I am being fair to her. Many gay men I know are repulsed by vaginas. It's a matter of personal taste. Just as a straight person can be repulsed by their own genetalia so much that they would never consider homosexuality as an option. Ultimately, I believe that we just follow our own preferences. If the world tells you that you must eat peas to go to heaven but the sight of them makes you puke, then you can't force yourself to like peas just because you are told to do so. I think anyone who is repulsed by another human being simply because they are not attracted to them is living a sad life. I don't get into fat people but I don't use that to justify hurting their feelings or making them feel bad.

I like the opposite sex quite well, in fact I'm better at getting along with guys. Most of my friends are guys, but that's all. For the most part (I am bisexual, but more attracted to women) I am not sexually attracted to guys at all. I look at them as friends, not lovers. Overall, I get nothing out of the idea of having sex with a man and most men are not attractive to me.

The opposite sex is fine as long as she is dressed. Naked, yes, she repulses me -- exactly the same as she repulses you.
Do you like looking at naked girls? Well neither do I. I've never been aroused by a female in my life. That's what being gay means.
Peace,
Reyn

I am bisexual so I don't understand repulsion based on gender. but I will say there are aspects of women that I adore and aspects of men that I find very admirable. I am attracted equally to both for this reason. I like my women feminine and my men masculine. I am a masculine man I don't understand fems and I am not in to buttsex I am a g0y and we are tough tender and trustworthy.
