For fast drive purpose. Should I focus on getting two WD drives w/ 16mb cache or 2 WD drives w/ 10,000rpm or even 3.0Gb/s? Because it looks like there is no WD Raptor with all 16mb cache / 10,000rpm / 3.0Gb/s and with less than 100GB of space.

This drive would house my Operating System and main programs.

I was then thinking of getting a WD 300GB 16mb cache 10,000 to house my data files.

No WD Raptor with 16 MB of Cache, 10,000 RPM 3.0 Gb/s and with less than 100 GB of space?

There is a WD Raptor with 16 MB of cache, 10,000 RPM, and 150 GB of space. Only thing lacking is 3.0 Gb/s but you shouldn't have any problems since 1.5 Gb/s gives you plenty of head space for 2 hard drives.

2 x 150 = 300 GB in RAID 0 configuration.

If you want the speed you should focus on the drives that run at 10,000rpm. A raptor can already perform very well with the 8mb / Sata 1.5gb/s. So the bottom line is, get something faster than 7,200rpm if you want performance.

Are you doing video editing or something? Why do you need such high drive speed? No normal person needs 10,000 RPM drives unless they are doing something insane like massive special effects or video editing. If you are, I'd suggest you worry less about the cache and more about the Gb/s and rpm.

im using 2 raptor 75s' in a raid0 and its the fastest settup i ever had for an operating system...programs and games load really fast...and yes a normal person loves the speed. i dont think you will notice much difference between the raptors...just get the size u want.

Don't get Western Digital. I know from experience that they break within half a year.
