Actually there is a product at the craft stores that is made to create a marbelized effect on glass, porceline and other non-porus surfaces. You choose the color combination you would like, add drops in a container of water larg enough to submerge the item to be marbelized, swirl and the color pigment sticks to the glass as you pull it out of the water. You must let the item dry on wax paper and it won't slip off of the surface. The one I found is called Marble Effects.

The Krylon website used to have a video on how to do this... but can't find it now.
It was done by spraying 2 or 3 colours of Krylon spray paint into a tub of water & stir the paint with a toothpick til you get a nice pattern - the paint sits on top of the water - dip your project flat into the tub and lift straight up, the paint sticks to the project & water evaporates.
Finish with a varnish. Very cool.

if no one gives you the answer you are looking for go to home depot and ask the person working in the department that sells these materials ,this was one of the most consistently helpful resources when we retiled the bathroom and extended the shower and added anothe rshower head, the peole at lowes suck and dont know anything the guys at home depot duirected us to other stores and books ,to get the job done correctly rather than try to pimp home depot merchandise and they knew what the hell they were talking about, we used two home depots and have consistently recieved good service from them
