why you cant call the fat people fat if they are fat,they know they fat.isnt the same with tall people?they tall,you call them tall.

some people are mean in the way they call people fat. I suggest you learn love and not hate. let's face it. calling someone fat in our society is a big no no.

some people have medical problems other are just lazy...some try but fail others succeed. I have yet to see a tall person get there feeling hurt when calling them tall. I have seen people hurt when called fat.As I see it...when people focus on the problems of today, the real problems we will stop seeing the fault in others and do something that better helps the world around us. Each of us has to care about ourselves, and don't need others to bring us downif, this so bothers you to the point that you really need to know the answer why don't you do something about it...start a class and help some of the larger people around you loose some weight. you can start by telling them thet once you were a shallow person with nothing else on your mind but thinking of ways to hurt them by insulting them, and that you are making up for your mindless thoughts and want to help them get a better, and heathier life...and no i am not fat i am 5'6 inches and 115.lbs....

Many reasons. Maybe the person had problems and now he/she become fat or they feel insulated or they now that but they are trying to ignore it and saying to them that they are fat makes them sad or it's not very nice to say to somebody like that because fat people is an ugly word. In other words you make the person sad and maybe causing him/her some problems. It's not the same as calling tall people tall. It's not nice to say it.

I say call them fat. If they don't like being fat, then they should do something about it. Of course it seems that a lot of fat people are liberals and as we all know..... liberals refuse to take responsibilty for their own actions. So to a fat liberal.. it's not their fault their fat.. it's Bush's fault. Bush gave us a tax break which put more money in our pocket which let those fat people go out to eat at McDonald's more often instead of eating healthy food at home. So it's Bush's fault their fat.
Or they've got some sort of gland problem. But that's because Bush won't pass a universal health care package so they've got health care to go get it taken care of.
Either way it's Bush's fault. And heaven forbid it's a fat BLACK person from New Orleans..... lol

Cuz being tall can be a compliment. I know a lot of people who wish they were taller. But being fat, you can't find a lot of people who'd want to be fat. So it is basically and insult to be called fat, but when people say you're tall, they usually mean it as a compliment.

Because being fat is often tied up with so many psychosocial issues that it is seen as crass to say anything about it. Many people have reasons for being fat that do not include that they have lack of will power. I was fat and am still overweight but I didn't start loosing weight till I dealt with my psychological issues. I used my weight as a psychological meat shield to keep others from hurting me after I was sexually molested at the age of 9.
Is this funny or something to make fun of. No it is not but by making fun of a persons weight you are potentially making fun of something you do not understand.

Good point. However, being fat is viewed as more than just a physical characteristic. Calling someone fat can emotionally affect them, calling someone tall usually cannot.

I guess because tall people really have no control over their height but usually fat people can control their weight, so when you call them fat it is pointing out a weakness in them.

I guess cause the truth hurts, I am fat , no pig , but fat and on diet , I know the truth , but it usually is not nice to go around calling people this ,because it may hurt someones feelings who may not be able to loose the weight(no I'm not talking about y'all couch potato's) I mean really genetics they are Just big ,or have disease they can not control ,like thyroid disease can cause you to be up to 400 pounds! Or more.

Because you wont like people to call you skinny bone, it is the same. It is the same as if you call a color person black and a white, gringo, Hispanic, spick, or what so ever, even if they are we have to call everyone Sir, Mr. + Mrs. Ms.
We have to show respect no matter how the person looks. If someone is cross eye, they don't want no one to called them cross eye. That would be very rude.
So when you buy a box of crayons, you call them crayons, not just red crayon. No matter how many colors, they are still crayons.

Because being tall carries little negative stigma (people want to be tall) to alot of people, being called fat is an insult (even if it is true) and they will resent that insult.
For example: You are a total idiot. Even if that is true, you will still be angry at me for saying it.
