Life has to adapt to the enviorment of the planet. Mars life would have to be mircoscopic, since we cant find any organisms. Gas Giants would float or glide to stay in a temperate zone. Venus would have to survive 900F temperatures and pressures 90x earths. The other planets outside our solar system are predicted to be 95% hot jupiturs, gas giants that are about 1300F on the surface.

Please keep religion of of science, also people.

We may or may not have already done so. The problem is, if what we see doesn't correspond with our preconceived expectations then it may not be acknowledged by our conscious mind. It will simply be "noise" in the background whether it is an image or a radio signal. Or readily dismissed as being from a non-biological source, even if there is no conclusive evidence to rule out living organisms.

If you are in high professional academia supposedly paid to research this sort of thing, it is probably considered safer to stick with conventional wisdom than to put yourself and possibly your career out on a limb by arguing that such and such data could suggest evidence for life. Not to mention the possible social and cultural repercussions that such a discovery would mean, and especially when it came to reassessing political alliances and economic priorities.

Because we've only just barely begun to look. This may take a while because our understanding of the other worlds in our system help us to predict where & how to look on each candidate planet. Our best interpretations, so far, tell us that any other life in our system would be "simple" and living below the surfaces. We haven't got space probes (yet!) that can land and then excavate planetary surfaces deep enough to search for life forms.

But we will before long; NASA is working on this right now.

WE have, The liberals have been found on the Moon and brought back here for us to study primitive sentient beings.
Unfortunately one got away in the mid 1960's and multiplied much like bunnies, of which they share the same reasoning and defense capabilities, and populated the more urban areas of our society like rats, of which they share the same scavanging as well as bathing attributes.
They are hard to get rid of, much like the cockroach, as you can't reason with them and must give them the scraps from society as they all work for, and listen only to their leaders, where only a few will benefit from the work, here they are called elected officials, also the commoners are completely blind and do only what the queens tell them to all the while thinking they all share the same living conditions.
It can however happen, I have seen it. When they are forced to see the fact they are working for their whole lives and living badly yet the very richest people in our society call themselves libs also . They see the light and realize they have been working for a false prophet, and in time they stop whining like sheep and take control of their own lives, where many go on to greatness.
So you see we have found life on another planet. They just disguise themselves as caring thinking people.

Because we haven't done a lot of looking...

Aside from the Viking probe which landed on Mars, and the recent rovers PathFinder, Spirit, and Oppertunity, no other Nasa mission was dedicated to the search for life.

HOWEVER

Most Nasa mission are designed to look for the signs of life. And we are finding that these signs of life seem to be every in out solar system.

first thing, is you need to know what "lifeform" really means. I've seen a few shows on tv that mention silicon is the next likely element after carbon that can serve as a building block for life. So not carbon based life forms, but silicon. So maybe their are intellient rocks out there somewhere.

If you are talking about life (living organism that can reproduce and stuff):
I don't know, if they don't have intelligence, then we will have to go find them. With our current technology, we can barely reach outside of our solar system (unmanned), and we are spending too much R&D money in developing weapons to kill each other. So no, we are not moving forward faster than we should be.

If you are talking about intelligent life:
Either it takes them too long to get here (distance in the order of light years), or they suffered mass extinction due to self-inflicted warfares, in which case their civilization couldn't last long enough to develop advanced space travelling technology.

We are visited by Aliens on a daily basis. I just saw another UFO yesterday morning. Our own President Bush and former President Clinton are both Aliens for Christ sake....and they're bringing in more Aliens all the time.

We are looking for it. Only when our great predecessors set on discovery spree did they find many countries. So we might find it it one day. Anyway the universe is so vast that we have still long time to look and ultimately we may not find.
The place where we can find are usually uninhabitable
