THEY ARE SO NICE BECOZ THEY HAVE SEEN THE WORLD MORE THEN US AND FACED REALITY IN LIFE WHICH WE SHALL FACE LATER. MAY BE WE SHALL BE THE SAME AT THE AT AGE TOO IF WE REACCH THAT AGE IF GOD FORBIDS.

No, it is not because they are spending YOUR money by drawing social security. They are drawing little more than what they put in to the system. I think Bill Cosby put it best when he said that his parents were so nice and indulged their grandchildren because they were old people trying to get into heaven. Some older people are really nice - especially if they are happy with the way their lives have been lived, have loving family and friends, and are fortunate enough to be able to remain relatively active. Others are not so nice but I usually find these are the ones that weren't happy when they were younger or who have lots of regrets from the past. They typically don't have close family or friends and find themselves feeling lonely and isolated. Strangely when they are out in public and could possibly be able to do something to make themselves feel better - like meeting and greeting people, they tend to perpetuate the problem by being grumpy or ugly to everyone they meet.

Because they know by then that it makes no sense not to be nice. Having lived a life, they understand that so many things that upset people or make them mean really don't matter in the big picture.
Of course, some of them are not gonna take any cr*p any more and they can be real buggers! Not that many, though.

Because they are no longer in the "rat race".
They are no longer in competition with anyone.
They don't care who gets the cute girl, or who gets the best job or the promotion.
It just doesn't matter anymore.
Nothing left to do but enjoy life and be nice.

i know some ppl that age and they're not too nice! i work at a hospital. i guess it depends what mood you catch them in! but they're just like everyone else.
