Nope. You can always find a hundred reasons as to why the economy is up or down. If you spend all the money spent on the war in building highways or projects in the country, you will the same effect or better yet more money will be in the country.

War has helped boost economic growth in the short term, because it increases production, the need for labor. It was the buildup for war which helped Germany out of the economic depression in the 30's and The US benefited a lot during WWII.
War is a risky business because if you loose the war then you get devastation. You have to re-invest in infrastructure, your may loose your labor force and private businesses and it is very harmful to trade which in the modern economies is one of the basis of real economic growth.

War as a general rule doesn't improve the economy. The Post WWII boom in the U.S. was because, Europe and Japans manufacturing capacity was bombed out of existance.
Its the old guns or butter economic question. If the government spends the money its gone. If it stays in the private sector it is reinvested and produces more wealth and prosperity.

No. War worsens economy because the government has to take money out of the country to support the war so there is less money to pay workers so jobs are cut and know there are more unemployed so then they go off to war and die.

The only time this theory allegedly worked was to get the United States out of the Great Depression by entering World War 2.

Yes and No, because everything has cause and effect. And if everyone just read "The Art of War" our country and economies wouldn't suffer so bad.

Economy is above all things in the world.
We spend all of our life to earn more, means most of the life depends on economy, physical comfort and entertainment etc.
Poor and foolish patriotic person may die in war to bring some oil for economy.
Truth is swtranger than fiction my friend.

Not really. Wars such as the Vietnam war were wars that started solely for the purpose of population control, and a cause of this war was the great depression.
