Actually I heard they are skipping the actual game and just having a head butting contest. Zizu is considering unretiring to help the French team out.

The whole thing could be over in an afternoon. Would save a lot of time, energy and grief. Also a return to regular TV scheduling ( not much I know, but preferably to some fixtures) and not having drunken yobbos driving round in white vans with St. Georges flags falling off over my windscreen for months before and after.
Also no newspapers devoted to WAGs, Wayne "detestable little git" Rooney's foot or dubious sexual predelictions, David Beckham, Sven Jorgen thingy, etc, etc ,etc. Great Idea! Let's host it in 2018

Having the penalty kicks first and then playing the game may ensure a more open game as at least 1 team will have to try and attack!

Why don't we just send one striker and one goalie from each country? Would save on all that travel.
Better yet, just have a groin-kicking contest. Last guy standing, his country wins the World Cup.

if it was decided entirely by penalties, it would be a game of provoking the other team into hitting and tripping and the like. it wouldnt be much of a game

The last world cup was ridiculous for that, especially the switzerland/ukraine 2nd round match, they might as well have played paper, scissors, stone for this world cup

FIFA should also ask all the players to wear a cowboy hat and take their shorts off during the penalty shoot out, while the referee should wear a mini skirt and blow a trumpet. lol

No, But what I heard is that each side will take turns at diving. if the ref is convinced, he sends a player from the other side off.
the last team with a player on the pitch, wins!

at least the popular players wont go to the world cup again. they are not known to score penalties, esp Bec" "kam.
