So, okay, we've got two incremental adjustments to time...
We've got time + 1 hours, and time + 2 hours.
Two hours later, it's half as long until midnight as one hour later.
Okay, so, there's a one hour difference between the midpoint times between the time we're at and midnight. So, how do we figure this out? Well, at what point will times one hour apart (say time A and B, A being earlier and B being later) be at 100% and 50% of the way to midnight, respectively?
Well, we know that A must be twice the distance from midnight as B, since B is half the distance from midnight as A. The interval between them is 1 hour.
If 1 hour is 50% of the way to midnight, then 2 hours must be 100% of the way to midnight.
So, point A is at 2 hours before midnight, or 10:00pm, and B is at one hour before midnight or 11:00pm.
Working back from there:
Point A minus one hour (since this has been advanced one hour) is 9:00pm.
Point B minus 2 hours (since it was advanced 2 hours) is also 9:00pm.
So, the current time is 9:00pm in the problem. an hour later is 10:00pm (2 hours from midnight) and two hours later is 11:00pm (1 hour from midnight, half the distance from 11:00 to midnight).
So, all points seem to agree that 9:00pm is the current time.
Hope that helps you understand the problem. Now off back to work with you! ;o]

let x=time now.
x+1=time an hour from now
x+2=time 2 hours from now.
12-(x+2) = 0.5 (12-[x+1])
12-x-2 = 6- 0.5x-0.5
10-x=5.5 - 0.5x
rearranging so we have x on 1 side:
10-5.5=x-0.5x
4.5= 0.5 x
finally,
x=9
It is 9 PM. Checking:
1 hour from now is 10 pm, 2 hrs from midnight
2 hours from now is 11 PM. 1 hr from midnight., half as long as at 10 pm.
