No need for a sword, I have a can opener and a large dog.
I also have children in the house that would love to try out a sword if I had one.

Yes i do, I have even made a few out of leaf springs, and old stainless stock I had laying around, You can never have too many swords and knives!
And DUH! everybody knows you cant defend against a gun with a sword, Thats is not why sword lovers have swords, We have them because we like them! If someone pulls a gun on me I will just explode their head with telekinesis.

Because the gun replaced the sword about 300 years ago!!! Gun go boom and kills the guy holding sword.

Gave mine to Johnny Depp so he could film Pirates. Haven't gotten in back yet.
