Every time I see her put her 4 kids in the car, ages from 3-7, she puts them in the back seat, small car, Carolla, no seat belts, not one carseat, nothing. I want to say something to her, but what? She looks like she doesnt have alot of money, like trailer trash really, you can smell cigarette smoke on her from a mile away, I feel sorry for her kids. Do I report her to CPS? should I just say something? It just really bothers me. I see it everyday. Those kids are going to get really hurt or be killed if they get in an accident. Whats the moral thing to do?

Rather than automatically reporting her, have you thought it might be better to offer a helping hand? One human being to another? You don't know what this woman's situation is. She may be between a rock and a hard place, just trying to make ends meet. She might be a single mom with no one to help her feed all those little ones, let alone buy a car seat. Reporting her might cause her even more problems and heartache than she may already have.

If I were you, I think I would strike up a casual friendly "Hi how are you?" conversation and open a little dialoge between the two of you.

Part of what is wrong with society today is that instead of "getting involved" many people had rather just let some government agency "handle it". Find out the facts before you sick some CPS person on her. You could do a LOT more damage than you realize.

The moral thing to do is report her to protect her kids. She can get donated car seats, etc., and any other assistance that she needs.

Take heart and do the right thing.

Do you have a old seat that she could use? For a 3 year-old, a booster seat from Walmart is $20-$40 - that's it if you want to just reach out to her person to person. If she declines then you have no problem with reporting her.

Near where I live a young mother learned how quickly not putin a child in a seat could go wrong. She went to make a turn and her door flew open, sending her 2-3 yr old out into a busy street. The child then jumped up and tried to run to it's mom when the child was hit and killed by a car.Get the lady's tag number and give it to local law and let them handle it from there.Or since you have kid's of your own and a car seat to spare give it to her or ask if she needs it,that you don't.Or ask other's at the daycare if they have seats they could give to the lady.If she cares about her kids she'll take it.If not make the calls to law enforcement.

Do you know for sure if she doesn't put seat belts on her children? If so, then she needs to be informed that she could be pulled over by the police one day while she's driving and given a ticket or worse, have her children taken from her. Legally, the three year old is old enough to not sit in a car seat. But they should still be strapped in a seat belt regardless.

It's your duty to report her to CPS. You'd feel horrible if you didn't and her kids were injured in an auto accident. Good luck. Poor kids:(

You should report her. You have an obligation to protect the children in my opinion. I would do it without a doubt.
