Africa needs a World Cup, and South Africa is about as good a chance as they have infrastructure-wise, and there is a lot of work to be done. Security should be okay for that. Give them a chance!

It would sure be a blessing for their economy. I think others who have said that the negatives that you have noted are just as prevalent in many of the other countries that the cups have been held. One has to ask if perhaps the high crime rate in any area has anything to do with the lack of opportunities available for the people who live there. Maybe an increase in tourism, etc., would result in a decline.

there is crime and rape everywhere and it would be unfair to not hold a wc in africa after all this time ... and south africa is probably the best place out of africa and it would also boost their economy and attract a lot of tourism even after the world cup ends

Very good question...and I have read all the other nice answers.
Go there before the World Cup or try to get the view of someone there. Crime is soaring as are accusations of corrupt police to corrupt politicians and apathy from both. There is no public transport. All tenders are rumoured to be given only to government friends and relatives, and there is talk of a form of reverse-apatheid going on in an effort to get all the whites or Europeans out of the country,as all jobs and tenders carry affirmative action policies making it impossible for qualified white university graduates to get jobs.
The vice president of the country was"sacked" after a convicted fraudster implicated him, he now faces a criminal case, stadia for soccer are in townships, with proposed new ones similarly remote, even just this morning the "big-wigs" that will "organise" this tornament from the SA side were talking about moving the competition to around December(!) as June/July is Winter in SA and they are worried about revenue from other after match activities! In short if you go be careful.

So wat everywhere has crime everyone thought Germany was bad and having the world cup there gave them a chance to change people's perception of them so having the world cup in africa is a good idea

No I think it should go to a team that could be able to afford stadiums(no offense). Like the US because I don't think they got stadiums and I don't think it's safe.
