Hmm.. Not sure, but Layer opacity can define how much transparency the layer shows. Heres how to do it in Photoshop CS2:
1. If you have the Layers window open, double-click a layer. Or from the menu, select Layer > Layer Style (or just Style).
2. The Style box appears. The first thing shown are Blending Options, and there is a slider for opacity. Moving this to the left or right will change how transparent the layer is, and how much do layers beneath show through.
Cheers,
Andy

Each layer other than the locked background layer has it's own transparency settings. The range is 0% to 100%, 0% being the most transparent, and 100% being the least transparent.

You can control the opacity of any layer (except for a locked background layer) using the slide control on the layers palette (or by entering a value 0-100 in the adjacent text field). Obviously, opacity of 0% is completely see-thru, and 100% is completely opaque.
You can use transparency to create lots of interesting effects, such as frosted glass, ghostly images and multilayered text.

Layer transparency means how transparent that one layer is. If you set it to 50% you see through the layer onto the next layer. Its basically setting the opaqueness. The closer you get to 0 the less you see of the layer

Hot means I'd sleep with them, if I actually slept around. But since I don't, it just means I like the way they look. I think many different kinds of guys are hot, it's not just the bad looking ones.
