I don't just mean in war. I mean in everyday life. Think of it, you'd never scrape your knee again.

Armour, spelled with an "our" rather than Armor with an "or"....

Hello fellow Canadian!

Yes, they are a valid precaution, but they are hell to take to the cleaners. Ever tried to dry clean an iron vest, steel undies, and pleat the steel trousers!

Besides, STELCO AND DOFASCO charge to much for the material!

Suits of armour were not the common-day wear for the average person anywhere in history. They were expensive and heck to maintain. They were worn when the owner NEEDED the protection. The armor from history was made primarily of bronze, then steel - these materials would not hold up against a bullet and so went by the wayside.

People today still wear armor... just it is made of Kevlar®, Dyneema® and ceramics.

why do people think Kevlar will stop knives...
Knives go right thru it..
If some one saw you wearing a suit of armor in this day and age... they would think you are wanting attention and taunt... or would think you have security issues... and either avoid you... or "teach that weirdo a lesson" and try to humiliate you and say... Hey holmes.. wheres that armor at now?

Yes, they are a valid precaution in some areas....
The best defense for a sword fighter is to not get hit... then you dont need armor.. and skill is the valid precaution...

funny one...
i love it

No. They cannot stop projectiles like bullets. Most had problems against arrows with strong points and high velocity. Just as Castles quit being built when cannons were invented.

The Suit of Armor has gone to the wayside because it does not work against today's weapons.

Are you serious? We still have suits of armor, they are just made out of Kevlar. The suits of metal armor worn by medieval knights would not stop even the smallest bullet. They were great for swords though.

Weapons have advanced beyond that. Suits of armor can't protect you against bullets. Plus they are difficult to move in. They weren't meant for today's combat.

I think the invention of stronger materials, such as Kevlar, have made suits of armour obsolete.

they stopped making them with the invention of the gun and for a suit of armour that can withstand it will be ridiculasley heavy, now days people have harder lightwieght metals but they wont be very manuverable and they are more expensive than kevlar

All suits of armor are good for now are making a good target out of yourself for a sniper. Bullets will tear right threw that, and so will alot of household goods.
Though they do look good
