I was just wondering. Most people know what beer pong is, but do you know of a similar game called beirut? I go to college up north and it's very similar to beer pong but the rules are different.

Beirut is simple....

You need a 12-pack of beer for each game--a 6-pack used on each side.

You have a "beeramid" of cups on each side of the table (a beeramid consists of 10 cups and are filled with a total of 4 beers) plus two satellites on each end of the table (one essentially in each of the four corners). Each satellite is filled with a full beer.

There are two ping pong balls in play.

One end throws the two balls. If they sink it in cup of beer then other team has to drink that cup and proceed to put that empty cup back where it was initially.

Once the ping pong ball bounces on the other side of the table, the ball can be swatted or caught by opposing team to protect their cups. If the ball is "rimming" around the inside of the cup, the players on defense can attempt to blow the ball out of the cup, thus performing a save.

The throwing of the ping pong balls go back and forth.

If a player sinks an empty cup then that player has to drink one of their own cups of beer and proceed to put that empty back into the beeramid.

One cannot throw a ping pong ball if they have a cup of beer which has to be consumed.

When one team successfully empties all of the opposing teams cups, they have won and the losing players must finish all of the remaining beers on the table...

There are variations to the game which I didn't mention, but for the basic rules of the game, these should suffice.

Happy throwing!!

Beirut is identical to most versions of beer pong. One notable exception is the Dartmouth College variant of beer pong, which involves actual ping pong paddles.

Wikipedia says: Beer Pong, an American drinking game, is also known as "Beirut".
