I am running about 20 MPG and I have a gut feeling that I should be running closer to 30.

I know about some easy things, like keeping the trunk empty, to keep weight in the car down, but what else can I do?

Keep in a high gear as much as possible, and when you need to stop in a queue, don't accel up to the back of the next car and break, just go slower each time and try to let it roll.

Couple of things; first off, use those gas cleaners that you find in any auto store; it's the additive that you put into your tank of gas after every fill up - do this for about 4 straight fill ups. Next, make sure the tires are equally pressurized to factory recommendations.

Next, make sure the oil is changed properly.

Next, change the air filter; I recommend K&N air filters; they provide more air through the engine, are reusuable, and provide 3 to 5 more horsepower to your car; they are more expensive, but after 3 air filter changes, they've paid themselves off.

After you've done all that and it's still not getting good mileage, then you need to go get it checked out.

Take it to a shop and have a tune up done on your car. New spark plugs, new wires, gas filter, oil filter, and things like that. Also make sure you have the correct air pressure in your tires. Hope this helps

Change your air filter. Maintain good tire pressure.(check inside the driver side door jamb for correct inflation pressure) Don't use the a/c as much as possible. Don't accelerate so hard. The faster you speed up the more gas you waist.

Change air filter, run synthetic oil, change spark plugs, Don't accelerate as fast, and react earlier ie if traffic starts to slow down 100 yards ahead start breaking very little so that by the time they have accelerated you don't have to accelerate as much!

if you drive for long periods of time at 60 mph or higher, that causes your gas tank to run out quicker. that should help some.

make sure your air filter is clean if not change it. your muffler can be changed with one that'll boost it(mpg) and horsepower but it cost's $$. tune up, not racing, steady speed, etc...
