Example: If you are a metal head, do people think you are satanic or whatever, stuff like that. Any stories to share on it?

They do. My son is into Death Metal so most assume he's satanic and a 'bad seed'. In fact, he's a great kid who would not harm anyone and has never given me any trouble.

My daughter likes jazz... and everyone just laughs at her. She's 13, guess she's not suppose to 'get' it or something. She likes that bluesy soft jazz, what's the problem?

may be somewhat of escapism and having a pipe dream. human beings have distinct tastes so a procedures because the music that could purely take them faraway from each and everything. With me it relies upon on my mood and what i'm attempting to flee from. I delight in an effective jazz song in distinct circumstances, and then there are circumstances that I purely need an effective not basic utilising music to take my aggressions out to. i imagine that when attempting to flee the pressures of the day, it is composed of truly day dreaming. So quite both should be one interior an similar.music has been proved scientifically to alleviate lower than pressure and modify peoples moods.

Unfortunately most people do judge others because of the music they listen to, but most of the time the music someone listens to can determine what there personality is.
But the main thing is not to judge a book by its cover.

Well this day and age many people stereotype and assume many things that can be right and can be wrong. For Instance...many people assume that if a girl is wearing a polo, ribbons in her hair, and preppy clothes that she is preppy. WRONG. She could go out the next day wearing all black. Many people would call her a poser. But i think people should wear what they want to wear, listen to the music they want to listen to and be yourself.

I think for the most part some people do,I on the other hand prefer all types of music.Music is the window of ones soul,a variety is what gives a person depth.that of course being my opinion. If one limits oneself to one type of music that would to me be a define less box. Happy listening!

I have had people label me to over the music i listen to...i like lots of different kinds of music and from lots of different eras'. for example older people think im stupid and that i don't "get it"the songs that is....some of my friends thought i was a goth/satinists because i like a few songs by M.Manson and NIN..some others think im a redkneck cause i like old country like jhonny cash and loretta lynn, hank williams...and a few think im a big pill popper cause i like some tecno. people who label have small minds and the same type of people like that, that i have met have also turned out to be racists also...not all but most.

Yes they do, or we do.

I used to listen to metal a lot and people always thought I was "dark"
I then listened to crunch/alternative and people thought I did not care, that I was "suicidal"
Then I started to listen to latin tropical music, and people thought I was happy, hot and a player for some reason.
I never got into hip-hop or rap, but here is the funny thing. I think people who listen to rap or hip-hop are egocentric. and act all gangsta

People definitely label you by your music. I know I am. I listen to emo and metal rock so people think I'm like stoner and I cut myself just because my music sings or screams about it

i had this problem in highschool. i hung out with the punk and goth crowds. i didnt dress like them, just jeans and tee-shirts, but i listened to the hard core metal and punk and all that stuff. one day i was sitting in class listening to NIN and this prep kid, and i mean prep kid, not one thing he was wearing wasnt abercrombie, came up to me and said "do people like us scare you? cause people like you scare us".
i was mortified. i couldnt believe people are that ignorant and rude.
