I'm a smoker, When i'm shopping with my partner she takes hours! I'm thinking about spending money, i'm hot, and i'm stressed... the last thing I want to be told in a shopping centre (arcade) is that I cannot smoke... These centres are HUGE, what possible passive smoking could someone endure??? Does anyone else think that non-smokers are Nazi's and that these rules are absurd!???

As a non smoker I have no objection to people smoking in vast open spaces, then again I am not a member of the government thought police.

First off, what makes you think that you are the ONLY ONE who would be smoking if that were allowed inside of the building? You aren't the only smoker out there. So if everyone was just going around lighting up cigarettes at the mall, I would be pretty upset. the smoke chokes me and makes my eyes water. It's a disgusting habit. Also, if I were a mother (smoker or not)I would not want to be walking around with my baby breathing in all that smoke. Second hand smoke is just as harmful (if not more) than what you are directly inhaling from smoking your cigarette. Don't pass your potential lung cancer to those of us that don't want it. As for the building, all the ashes and burning cigarettes and a fire hazard and premiums are lower for the building if it's non smoking. Stop thinking about yourself. If you want to smoke, don't go shopping with your girl, or tell her you'll be right back and go outside.

I am a non-smoker and do not want to breathe your smoke. I chose to be healthy and feel that people should not be allowed to smoke inside any building. That does not make me a Nazi.

I would suggest that you only go with your partner on short shopping trips. If you are grouchy and want to go smoke, you probably aren't that enjoyable to be around anyways. I think that it's sad that smoking has taken over your life so much that you can't enjoy doing everyday things with your partner.

I'm a smoker too and my partner moans at my smoking. Now he doesn't smoke (Obviously) and see nothing wrong about getting me stressed out and watching me deprived a little nictine intake (To soothe my nerves).

He too accuses me of killing him with passivve smoking when i insist that! He doesn't need to sit in my car, can alweays watch TV in teh guest room when i'm in the sitting room and that!!! each and every trip he takes to dublin (Most days) kill him quicker (Pollution) than my fags.

Now aboutt nazi rules ... We live in the south of ireland where smoking's banned in pubs and restaurants. I've cut down my trips to the pub because i don't see why i should be deprived of a cigarette every so often to apease non smokers. They tried non smoking pubs but hey! Nobody would go there. And i also feel really annoyed at the fact that, in pubs, i have to put up with drunks when drinking kills just as much as smoking does in fact!!! As a smoker i can drive home after the pub and still know what i'm doing, not kill people because alcohol slowed my reflexes. Nicotin doesn't make me batter my partner either!

So yes these rules are absurd especially when we all know that governements still make a killing on tax on cigartettes and that!!! Most pubs in ireland (Smoking banned) Still have vending machines for fags!!! How stupid is that??? We'll sell them to you but just go and smoke them somewhere else?

i am a smoker and as much as i would like to be able to smoke in public places, i know its unfair to other people. If u are that desperate for a smoke why dont u find the nearest exit (shopping centres tend to have loads of exits) go outside and have a smoke? then your happy you had a smoke, and your partners happy she got to shop without you stressing about needing a cig! simple compromise really!

Carlos, as absurd as it may sound to a smoker, non-smokers can smell the smoke from a cigarette for some time after the smoker has left. It smells really, really bad. When you enter a public restroom where some unfortunate soul has been ill do you want to stay & continue to smell the odor? Smoke from a cigarette smells that bad to non-smokers. Really, really.

How about I emit gas from my @ss for as long as it takes you to smoke? Would you like that? Now, imagine that at least half the people in the place are doing that, yet not all at the same time.

If smoking was allowed there would be alot of people smoking, and then it would be a problem. You can not deny that smoke is bad for people. That is fine and dandy if you want to pollute your own body, but you have no right to subject anyone else to it.

I have been smoking for 40 years and hope i have the decency to respect the wishes of others. I am the one with the addiction. Non smokers have every right to expect their breathing space to be free of my pollutants.
As long as they keep their four by four gas guzzling exhaust fumes away from me i will keep mine from them.
Which is the most serious offence, 20 cigarettes a day or 20 miles in a 4 litre vehicle? Are 4x4s addictive?

I am a smoker but just imagine everyone who smokes lights a cigarette. Even for myself that would be disgusting walking through a shopping centre filled with smoke.

i think that you are being extemely selfish...smoking in an indoor area means the smoke is trapped, if everyone was smoking in there t would be unbearable and people with asthma would be in serious trouble, also it would set off all the smoke alarms!

you want to smoke fine, but other people dont want to, they dont want the smell on their clothes or in their hair, they dont want to watch people with asthma suffer, or people trying to quit flounder and they dont want to even RISK passive affects

there is nothing nazi about it, non-smokers arent the ones harming and insulting other people for their own selfish stupidity! and neither are all those smokers out there who have enough respect not to smoke in no smoke areas!

Well a place like a mall is a crowded area, even in an open area such as a food court or place to sit down. Smoke travels so that's why you should smoke outside.
