If I quit a job while out on an active workman's comp claim, does that invalidate the claim, and will the employer still be required to pay the doctors, etc until the claim is closed?

What state are you in? Each state has different requirements.

Your former employer will probably go to a hearing and ask for the claim to be closed as you voluntarily left. The law was meant to protect you while you get back to work at the same place. The Dr. is paid by a fund instituted by the state, however if they can kick you out and save the state money they will if it is justified by you quitting.

OK, I checked and you are in NC. Go to: http://www.comp.state.nc.us/ncic/pages/faq.htm At the bottom of the page you have some contact numbers that may help. I didn't specifically see the answer to your question.

employers don't pay the doctor on a Workman's comp claim, the state does this, it should not effect this claim if your are currently being treated by a doctor, but after released fit to work, you can not file anything else as Workman's comp until you are re-employed!
