I work in an office where on average at the moment it is 30 degrees. The swelling starts in my feet at around lunchtime then works its way up my legs and by now I can't get my shoes back on, my ankles are huge and my knees are all puffy and sore. Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to stop this? Help! I wore a skirt today and have to walk home with freakishly huge ankles etc!!!

If 30 degrees is farenehight and not celsius -WOW! You should have popsicles for legs! Go see a physician as the condition may need intervention immediately!
Leg swelling also called pedal edema does occur in most people as you have described it. You can slow it down by putting a small toddler stool under your desk and prop your legs up on it during the day. Elevating takes the stress off of the veins, even 15 minutes every two hours makes a differance.
Natural remedies that remove fluid from the body are lemon juice and paprika. Put lemon juice in your water and it will help. Paprika can be added to foods (applesauce, salads, meat) and it does not alter the taste.
Don't apply an ace wrap without a physician monitoring the legs first. You can hurt yourself if you wrap incorrectly.
You may need to bring along a pair of larger sized walking shoes for the end of the day until you resolve it.
--By the way, diuretic prescriptions are very cheap.

wow can't say anything after sarahyah answer since she is a nurse. it sounds like you're sitting for a long time without any exercise to your legs its what happens to my mum any way as she has blood pressure problems and has had them since she was in her 20s. try walking around as regularly as possible not sitting down for too long and not standing up for two long. always try to give your feet a bit of a cold water wash to cool them down when at work and when you go home soak them in cool but not too cold water with some salt (you can choose if you wanted to be an aromatic one or just regular table salt from your kitchen). A light massage to help improve your circulation since too much pressure might be too pain full. you can do this when you are at your desk taking a short break.
if your symptoms persist seek advice from a doctor. i hope this helps. good luck

Cut back or stop with the salt. Sodium is a big factor for ankle swelling. Do you drink sodas? I have found out that people who drink alot of soda have large ankles. Good luck!!

Make time about an hour and raise your legs sufficient that they're above your body ie lay down and put your feet up. Also drink plenty of water and cool them down put your feet in a tub full of cold water.

If you drink a glass of water with a table spoon of applecider vinegar in it every day, it will help stop the water retention. Your body thinks it is being deprived of water and is storing excess in your legs.

Yes,you need more water. Your body doesn't retain water, unless you're not drinking enough. Doubt it will work by the end of the day,but drink more water, use less salt,it will eventually get better
