I tend to get along with men more than women, and I'm not even remotely attracted to my male friends, and none of them have ever tried to hit on me.
Most of them already have girlfriends anyway :). So no, they're not gay! :P
I find guys easier to talk to than women(not that I don't have female friends, mind you).
Where did this myth--that guys and girls can't just have a platonic relationship--come from?

I find that guys are easier to talk to also! I think its because they have a more logical way of thinking and tend to just be straight forward with friends and not as gossipy as girls - though I do love my girlfriends, sometimes you just need to talk to a guy friend.

I think the myth that guys and girls cant just be friends, comes from the fact that sometimes when you meet a guy who is single and you're single, and he first starts becoming your friend, he might think about you in a different light.

This has happened to me a few times when I first met my a few of my guys friends, and I guess its only natural for the thought of something more to cross your mind when you first meet a person and find you like hanging out with them. Especially in men since they are just biologically built to find a mate. But after making it clear that it was just friendship and nothing more, these guys and I have become the best of friends and can hang out platonically.

So point being, it think it comes from the fact that in beginning of a friendship, the guy (or girl) sometimes wants more, and instead of working through it most people just say "oh we cant be friends"

I don't know where the myth comes from, but I can answer your first questions. I have a lot of guy friends too, and I also find that I can get along better with guys. I have girlfriends too. I find that many of the guy friends that I've had in the past actually have alterior motives. They just wanted to get in my pants, but didn't voice hoping they could work their way in. I dislike men like that. Where's the honesty?

Men just get to be called "pigs" no matter what we do. We don't even get a show named after us though there is a wonderfully sensationalized program called "Cougars" I do believe. This question like the people who use such "nicknames" is a broad generalization. The men vs. women war only drags on because people want it to. "Men cause PMS" "Women are the reason I drink" "Why is chocolate better than men?" "Why are dogs better than women?" Etc, etc, add nauseum. I find it a bit tiring and much like political parties, outdated and useless myself. Is what people think of your relationship really as important as the relationship itself? Be happy with one another and judge the men and women you come into contact with on their individual merits and flaws... In answer to your question, maybe "wolf"? I always had a hint that the wolf in Red Riding Hood was older than her for some reason. I'll be the first official Wolf if it makes you sleep better at night...

I agree with you. I have more PLATONIC male friends than women friends. It's a easier to be friends with a guy for me. I am really competitive and my likes and dislikes often clash with alot of women.

i think it's meant in general. most men cannot be just platonic. i have most men as friends but they always try to be more than just friends even if they have a girl friend or wife. i just find myself always keeping them at a distance so that i dont have to hurt their feelings if i have to turn them down.
