In chess, I prefer to be black, because I have more control over the opening.
I don't play checkers.

We mix up one of each sides men then the other player picks a hand and whatever color hey choose is how we start then alternate every other game.By the way, my chess pieces are civil war figurines, not black and white.

I don't think it matters. If you got skills you will win no matter what color you choose or if you move first or second. You wanna play? Get ready to go down!

I love chess !!!!!
I haven't a choice of colour ......
any colour ......
i can win or lose with any colour .....
colour is not indicative to performance
of wit or talent or ability to win ....
Although, black is nice, a sinister
hue to come & get ya !!!!!

The one that is left after the other person chooses.
(I am Canadian, and therefore too polite to insist on being the one who picks the colours.)
