I have quite an obvious Russian/Ossetian accent whenever I speak English, and I am just looking for ways to agitate Canadian strangers who I don't take an immediate liking to so that they'll leave me alone...ha ha.

Well, for me, the problem is primarily with English...I can speak Russian and Ossetian without any accent issues because I learned them both at the same time; I can speak Polish and German with an accent just as a native speaker. Spanish and English are my only problems; now that I live in Canada, I was just hoping that my accent may be another source of annoyance for the few people I don't want to interact with... :)

I know that I have an accent & I try to suppress it as much as I can. I also have a bad habit of picking up someone elses accent while speaking with them.
If you really want to agitate Canadians you do not like try to convince them you are American. Not only the notion that you might be one will annoy them but also the fact that you are obviously not one but insisting that you are will drive them crazy.

accents are hot.
I took Russian for two years.. I love the language. When I moved to Vegas from Texas people told me I had a SLIGHT accent.. but I never heard it. My boyfriend still tells me that I say some words oddly.... Accents give you personality.. but in your case you're looking to annoy people, it can work, what works better is to just act like you don't speak english at all. I observe that it annoys a large portion of the english speaking population. Then again.. whenever I go to McDonalds and the people behind the counter can't understand ME.. I do find that I myself get a little frustrated.
Hmmm.

I dont care much about accents, I care more about the content of what is said. A moron that makes foolish statements with a charming euro-trash accent is still a moron. And an intelletual with a bad voice is still an intellectual.
Only women, kids, and homosexuals get fooled by a man in pretty package. Real men wanna see what you got, not what you display.

Well I live in Texas and I have a bad accent that my friends make fun of me for. I try to control it, but I sometimes say thang and stuff like that. It's ok, don't worry about it.

Accents don't bother me unless I can't understand a word the person is saying.

Ask them how many languages they speak, and ask them if they can speak a foreign tongue without an accent.

No, everybody has an accent to someone somewhere. Why would I get mad about linguistic differences?

That doesn't annoy me, it actually surprises me. I forget that I have an accent towards other people. I think it's funny.
