i have to make a project on forensic science and the use of chemistry and chemicals in it. also specify the role of detectives in it.

it's analytical chemistry. they use HPLC, GC-MS, and other devices to analyze for all sorts of chemicals. the csi website is a great starting point. they actually delve into the instrumentation and science a bit.
