does anyone know what to use to stop the iron in my water from turning my white sock and other clothes from staining. This is our first time living with well water and I know we have a filter that we changed when we moved in . But the socks especially are a off yellow color. Even if I bleach them it's still yellow. Any ideas on what to do and use. thanks

Before you start your wash, put a cup of white vinegar in with your clothes. This will soften the water, and get rid of any rust that would stain your clothes. It is also safe for colors! Take care of yourself!

I might have the solution to your problem.. The same thing was happening to me and my husband and we decided to buy another iron but a special one that says drip-free and girl let me tell you it has been the best iron.. I pay 29.99 but it's worth it.. I had 2 beautiful blouse that I had to get rid of because of that yellow spot left from the water from the iron..also my husband had a nice white t-shirt that got mess up as well.. and you know the white shirts that men wear under no lies we still have about 3 with the yellow stain I told my husband look no one can see that .. Just wear it like that.. I hope this help..

Use distilled water in your iron and any good cleaner designed for that purpose to remove the white residue from the iron's water reservoir.

if you have a conditioning system that uses salt like i have you need to buy the salt with the "red out" in it . it only helps a little on clothes but works good for rust in sinks and tubs. bleach makes whites yellow. i don't know why.

Have your water tested by any company that rents or sells water softeners. They can test your water and tell you how big of a water softener you will need. We have well water and until we installed a very LARGE water softener, our water was staining everything!
