Does it make any sense to anybody? I just don't see the logic involved here in replacing Neil Smith.

When I heard about that, the first thing I did was to log on to various sites to read the reactions of hockey fans.

With most happenings, you get two sides, one group of people who support a move and another who question the logic. With this, however, it was almost completely unanimous that the move makes no sense for the Isles, and that the whole thing seemed almost unbelievable.

I've followed the NHL for a long time, and I have to say that this is one of the most shocking off-ice developments that I've ever seen. I have absolutely no idea what the Isles are thinking, but there's no doubt that this move makes them look like a second-class franchise.

Can anyone rationalize what the Islanders have been doing for the past 10 years....

They had a great hockey mind as a manager in Neil Smith, who knows what it takes to build a winning team, a good coach in Ted Nolan and Pat Lafontaine as an advisor.

This is the begining of the end for the Long Island team with such a great history but an owner who knows nothing of the game of hockey.

Some people have too much money for their own good....

i changed into satisfied they fired Smith and that i'm a existence lengthy Isles fan..Smith has hyperlinks to the Rangers, and may smash the crew a lifeless ringer for mononey did interior the 90s..and as far because the circus in lengthy island..if i look i imagine that the Islanders nonetheless have extra cups then both teh dDevils or the Rangers..and one good year by using the Rangers doesnt erase that they have finished in the back of the Isles the three years before that. I surely might want to say the completed league has been rather lame as far as signings..the Islanders nonetheless have some skills in Bridgeport..they have been acceptable the only accurate few seasons...they ought to nonetheless seem to sgn one extra defenseman..and attempt to commerce yashin. the Islanders will somewhat make the playoffs this year yet they'll make it b/c i think that Dipietro is able to coach some beter chioces

As a Long Islander, I don't see the rational behind it either.

No, they might as well take someone off the street than give it to a back-up goaltender.
