OK the skin is not raw or anything it looks pretty healthy but i want to know is it normal for a African side neck to shed there skin on there heads and neck like that? if its not i am not going to get it because i can not afford to be running to the vet all the time because it is sick.. i already got a turtle that i have checkups with. i do not need the stress if something is wrong with this turtle.

TURTLES SHED. A GOOD KEY TO HERPING(KEEPING REPTILES) IS THAT IF THE ANIMAL IS EATING AND ACTING NORMAL THAN IT IS OK. YOU MAY NOT SEE IT SHED ALL THE TIME. PUPPIES SHED THEIR TEETH AS THEY GET OLDER BUT YOU WONT KNOW IT HAPPENS TIL YOU SEE A LITTLE BLOOD ON THEIR TOY OR YOU FIND A TINY TOOTH IN YOUR CARPET.
YOUR TURTLE SHOULD BE OK... BUT JUST TO BE CAREFUL BUY SOME TURTLE CONDITIONER AVAILABLE AT WALMART AND PETSMART...

It doesn't sound like there is anything wrong with this turtle. A little shedding of the skin is normal in most reptiles. Take care!

Quite normal. However if she seems to be shedding almost non stop it could be a sign of too much vitamin A, or perhaps a problem with the water chemisty. Doesn't sound like anything's wrong though :-)
