1/2 of 60 is 30. 1/2 tells you to divide the number by 2.
20% of 40 is 8. Because 20% is .20. So multiply 40 by 2 (80) and then move the decimal point one spot to the left (to make the 2 a .2). So the 80 becomes 8.0.

1/2 of $60 - all you have to do is divide. you can use a calculator if you want, just take 60 divided by 2, and you will get 30.
20% of $40 - the decimil moves, making the equation look like .20 x 40, you multiply to get your answer. But don't worry about learning math that is too far ahead of you- you will get to it in school when you are a little bit older. And by then you can just ask your teacher.

1/2 $60.00 = $30.00
20% $40.00 = $8
20 % of $40 is 20 multiplied by 40 divided by 100.
Example: 30% of $210 is 30 multiplied by 210 divided by 100 = $63

The easiest way to figure out fractions and percentages is to turn them into decimals and then multiply it with the other number given.
1/2 is the same as 1 divided by 2, which equals .50
So:
.50 * 60 = 30.
20% is the same as 20/100 which equals .20
So:
.20 * 40 = 8

Open up the Calculator program on your computer.
For the first one, type in: .5x60 and press enter.
.5 = 1/2 so that will work
For the second one, type in .2x40 and press enter to get the answer
20% is the same thing as 20/100, which is .2
It's probably not your fault that you hate math, perhaps your teachers are not as engaging as they could be.

Okay, the first is easy. Just divide 60 by 2, and you've got it.
For the second, just multiply 40 x .2 and you'll get your answer.
