Can someone give me a concise explanation of why some people believe it didn't happen? I've seen plenty of theories.

We simply didn't have the technology (we had enough for atomic bombs and advanced weaponry--who says? Especially when the whole country was going great guns to get it to work). I don't think any of their arguments hold up--the Russians had satellites all over the place, and we weren't exactly quiet about when we went up, so they would have had everything they had trained on us to make sure we weren't making it up. Talk about a coup for them during the Cold War if they could have proven we didn't do it, and they never challenged it.

It's understandable when you consider that the U S Government has lied about so many other things isn't it? Remember that, at the time, the space race was hotting up and the Cold War was at it's height. The flight to the moon would prove which side had the best technology and, by inference, the best weapons. Fortunately the west won and eventually communism crumbled.

However, just on the physical landing. Then surely all the tracking devices all over the world couldn't have been fooled. The Russians certainly knew that the landing was genuine and near where i live in England is Jodrell Bank, one of the most advanced radio telescopes in the world. They tracked the landing and broadcast it. Unfortunately Hollywood got hold of the idea and made a film that showed a fake landing, was it The Gemini Project, or something like it?

They claim that shadows are pointing in the wrong direction on the moon landing pictures. One has a "c" on a rock they believe means it it was a prop. The fact is most pictures are actually multiple shots pasted together. Everything has a reasonable explanation.

The bottom line is there are some really genuinely weird stuff out there. But things like this can always be shown to be a conspiracy if someone puts enough energy into "finding" something.
