I wonder what type of scam or sales pitch this is. I know that if this happened either she is trying to sell something, or is the decoy to get the door open for a home invasion robbery.

I would stare for a couple seconds, then shut the door, lock it and fetch a knife, the same thing I do with all other door visitors I don't recognize.
