At my job, we are having a re-opening of a newly created Koi Fish pond. We are planning to have a "Feed the Fish" type day with the kids in the area - and were wondering if anyone has ideas for this event?
We already have fish-type giveaways, and will be letting each child help feed the fish - but...how else could we implement the idea of Koi fish in the celebration?
(There will be kids of all ages there)

I don't know how large your pond is but I helped with a similar event at our new aquarium. We got large metal washers from a home improvement store and painted either a 1 or a 2 on each washer. We had three washers that we labeled with a star. We then threw the washers into the fish pond. Each kid got a chance to fish for these washers with a special fishing pole we rigged with a large magnet instead of a hook. We then had prizes depending on the marking on the washer you caught. We bought trinkets for numbers 1 and 2 and for the three star washers we gave soft toy stuffed fish and a free pass to visit the aquarium.

Another idea..a contest to name the Koi.
