If aliens ever come to the earth, will they come to establish relations, or will they come as conquerors?

I heard an iteresting option that was, in OUR own history, anyone who travels great distances to a new land does so to reap the spoils of that journey.

Any alien race would have to travel an absolute minimum of 4 light years to get here, and probably much, much further.

The odds against an alien race arriving here by accident are astronomical, so any aliens that land here very probably did so on purpose.

If they knew we were here and just wanted to commune, they'd probably send out signals in all known methods, including those which we'd never contemplated all the way down to radio signals.

But to actually come here without warning means they need something or want something pretty badly. As they say, desperate times call for desperate measures... they'd probably be hostile.

Then again, maybe going a few hundred light years is the same to them as driving down the street, in which case all bets are off.

Considering how vast space is, I'd put bets on aliens having already visited this planet.

But I don't think they're necessarily interested in establishing relations OR coming as conquerors.

For either of those things to happen, aliens would first have to find us really interesting, and of value to them somehow.

Maybe they've taken a quick look here and there and just moved on to something more interesting. If not, I cannot assume they are the equivalent to our earthly colonialists in their behavior.

Life has to adapt to the enviorment of the planet. Mars life would have to be mircoscopic, since we cant find any organisms. Gas Giants would float or glide to stay in a temperate zone. Venus would have to survive 900F temperatures and pressures 90x earths. The other planets outside our solar system are predicted to be 95% hot jupiturs, gas giants that are about 1300F on the surface.

Since life Is unlikely to look anything like what we know from adaptations, and is almost guarenteed to be bacteria, Id say neither...though with bacteria, id lean towards conqouring.

I believe that this planet is probably one of the least evolved of all worlds, and that more highly evolved beings have not only been here, but have far more sophisticated methods of getting what they want than through force. If they wanted to "take over" earth, they could have done it a long time ago. I believe they have been here and left us gifts of technology and medicine that would have taken us hundreds of more years to come up with on our own.

For aliens who have developed such advanced technology that allow them to travel great distance in space, they wouldn't be here to "discover new things". If they do come they will be here to expand their territories. Specifically, they have probably exhausted their natural resources and are here to take control of ours. Ironically, we are exhausting our own resources at such a rate that when the aliens do arrive, our planet won't be of interest to them anymore and they will leave.

I wish they would come up with a notion of camaradarie. We are already all sick of hatred among ourselves. I just don't want any more hatred among ourselves, hatred with them too would make us even worst!
