This has perplexed me as to what the baby would be classed as, alien or human. I know the genetic structure will not change to something like ET and would remain human, but is the baby classed as alien?

Yes, and don't think that's not possible. If NASA returns to the moon as they say they will be shorty and colonize, the first baby born on the moon will actually be the first alien. It will happen!!

What determines human and an alien? It is not the place of birth that determines us. If I were born in the uranus and i was the same, I would not be happy if you call me an alien. I am a human by nature. My biological traits make me human, not the place I was born, I suppose. If a pregnant women gives birth to a baby in another planet, it does not necessarily mean that the baby would differ from any human traits. If it differs, you may call it an alien, but if it does not, it is a perfectly normal human being.

No he can't be an alien because we consider somebody as alien only if he isn't a living being (species) belonging to the world we know.Otherwise he/ she is still a human being.

Now just because a child was born in a plane also doesn't mean he is alien.

The citizenship we grant in this world is according to the laws prevailing in that country. If you are born in many Arab countries you are unlikely to be an Arab.(depends on laws). As long as aliens doesn't create a clause permitting somebody born in another planet to be alien, we will remain human being and not alien

When we visit other planets, we are aliens, in fact if we visit other countries, we are aliens. You could use this terminology in a variety of situations. But what if we were to colonise the moon or mars, the people born on that planet would be lunar or martian. If they were to visit earth, yes they would be aliens. Still human but aliens.

In a billion years, there may be races on different planets that have originated from human but have evolved to suit their new environments.

If there isn't already intelligent life on other planets [with tentacles and what-not] its only a matter of time!

I think it would be a human with citizenship on both earth and the planet upon which it was born - just as we handle travelling humans on earth.

If the child was raised by martians (say the parents died or some such) then it could begin to have some claims to being a martian. Robert Heinlein's famous novel Stranger in a Strange Land deals with this situation (and much more, really - in fact some liken it to the Christ story).

Peace!

Transport your question back to Earth - If a woman who is a citizen of the USA travels to France and has a baby, would the baby be an alien to USA, or an American citizen.
Baby would be considered alien in France to French people, but American back in this country.

Generally, the child is considered the same nationality as the mother.

For example, if the mother was an English citizen, then the baby would be considered an English citizen. That's the general rule of babies born outside national borders, such as while on a cruise in international waters or while visiting a foreign country, but not a citizen thereof.

Humans can be classed as aliens. If you are not a native or naturalised citizen of the place you are in then you are an alien.
The baby would not be an alien if it stayed where it was born.

Of course the baby wouldn't be an alien!! Legally, we take the nationality of our father, so unless the baby's father was an alien I'm going to go with the baby being human and either European, Asian, American, etc..!

The baby would be born long before the rocket reached another habitable planet therefore it wold take its mother's nationality.

If your mother and father were a frog then you would be a frog!

Species are distinct one from another so the baby would be human and classed as such.

OF COURSE IT WOULD BE AN ALIEN. So would its Mum. They would be aliens on that planet. The local beings would classify it as alien, if they were exclusionist like some of us.

Humans are aliens in most of the universe.
