All the pro-lifer just about now are supporting Bush for using his first veto on the Stem-Cell Bill. Do the pro-lifers realize that even though that now that stem-cell bill has been vetods it now makes it illegal to use the embryos for science BUT companies that own them can still destroy them, literally flush them down the toilet, they just can't use them for science!! How idiotic, and fascist is this??

I know I'm so pissed off about this. Stem cell research uses the same methods as in-vitro fertilization. In in-vitro fertilization extra embryos are made so that thousands of unused embryos are destroyed if not used. The point that pro-lifers make is that those embryos were made with the INTENT for them to live, whereas for stem cell research they are made to be destroyed. So that is their ethics issue, but how can someone value the "life" of a small ball of cells in a petri dish a few days into development over that of the millions of people with diseases such as parkinsons, alzheimers, diabetes etc.

Unfortunate, but true. Not a lot of money is being put into private study because drug companies would stand to lose billions. My father died from Lou Gehrigs 4 1/2 years ago, and, towards the end, the retail cost of his medicines was over $2000/day.

Bush flushed the best hopes of millions of Americans down the toilet, literally. I hope he sleeps well at night...

Actually, they can be used for science. Just the government won't pay for the science. The science is going to have to be paid for some rich person willing to donate a lot of money.
