Because they have a sense of entitlement and feel somehow that their employer owes them something. Or, they feel that their employer has such vast financial resources, they will not care or notice what the employee took was missing.

I think its for the thrill of it. They think to themselves, "How far can I take this before I get caught? How much can I get?" Sometimes, with money its out of greed or they actually need it. Its sad when they do this, and I don;t think they realize the consiquinces. Not just in that workplace, but any other work place. They will be fired and no one else will want to hire them Sometimes it is lashing out at a coworker, or and employer just
because they are not happy with their job or are angry with the employer and how he/she runs their buissness.
I hate theives, but if they steal it from me, then God knows and will take care of it and they must need/want it more that I do or I would have kept better watch on it.

Crooks are crooks and they will steal from anyone, anywhere. The reason they became crooks is irrelevant.
On the other hand, if someone knows it is wrong to steal, it won't cross their mind to steal from anyone, whether it is their employer, a store, a friend, etc.

I think some people feel they should be treated better by their employers so they jack stuff from the office to compensate. Or maybe they're just bored. Or how about this one, saves a trip to the store!

Becasue we dont get paid enouhg, or because we dont care, or we're just freakin lazy, or we dont like our employers, or boredom, no need for a reason, who doesnt have the urge sometimes just to take something.

They are disgruntled because their employer doesn't pay them enough. Just think of all the Wal-Mart employees' kids who get "free" school supplies because of this mindset.

incidents of employee theft generally go up when they aren't paid enough, or they have an abusive employer.
