our food? 25 years ago NO ONE thought the government would tell people where to smoke. Then they realized that lung cancer was an epidemic like obesity is now. Every single night there is a new story about americans weight, how long before they begin to limit portion sizes and fat content. Oooppps they already have begun, just last week they talked about requiring resturants to use grease with no trans fats etc.

Anyone have an opinion?

it doesn't bother me. I'm glad they tell people where they can and cant smoke cause people that don't smoke shouldn't have to breathe in other peoples poison. just cause they wanna kill themselves doesn't mean we want to.

Oh, yes. When they have run the smokers aground and compelled everyone to stop smoking, the government will be searching for a new tax base. Hmmmm, what's next? I've got it! Sugar products! Fast Food! As a smoker I am on the endangerd species list. The rest of you better hide your Twinkies, Cokes and M&Ms. You're next.

Oh, and I'm not being a bit funny or coy. If they can target one segment of the population now, the can target another later. The precedent hase been set. Everyone should be aware. Whenever they pass a law, we lose a freedom. Think about that!

That is done overseas, if you buy french fries at McDonalds overseas they use healthy oil, they dont taste the same. Need to go back to the old ways in Italy they use olive oil and garlic, and everyone is at least 50 to 100 lbs over the ideal weight, What I have read is that natural foods are better (use butter not margarine) (Sugar or honey not artifical sweeteners)
We will all die it is just when that we dont know so enjoy as you could be killed by a car or bus today.

maybe if the government had stepped in years ago and made the food industry accountable for what they produce ( fast food outlets and food manufactures) then your country wouldn't be so fat.
The additives and fats that are added to food are extremely unhealthy and time has proven that.
Now they want to fix a problem that shouldn't have been there to start with!
Sad!!

The government has been in the business of controlling our food as long as I can remember. It has been a good thing too. If it wasn't for the FDA, I'm sure that we would have some problems in the United States that would spell death to most.

We live longer in America due to controls on food. Just recently, they have kept mad cow disease out of our beef. As for the future of food and drug control, who knows. I do get frustrated though when those dumbasses don't allow people on their death bed to try newly discovered cures for their ailments so they die anyway.

Just think how sick you would get if there were no health inspectors checking up on your favorite restaurant from time to time.

I think the government needs to get the flock out of its citizens personal lives. You can't smoke but you can go get drunk time after time and run-over people. Meth labs sprout up over night selling death but lets worry about how much trans fat is in a cheeseburger. They need to worry about what is illegal not our personal habits that are legal and often taxed like crazy.

they have spent the last 60 years or so making most of the country dependent on them for food. the percentage of people in the US who know how to grow their own food, and in fact, subsist with little or no help from the govt. has plummeted to an all time low. this is no accident. they even have local govt.'s incorporating laws to prohibit self sufficiency (ie. not being able to keep livestock in many areas, restrictions on garden sizes). odds are if you live in a neighborhood, you have deed restrictions that limit your right to grow food or keep animals that provide food (chickens, cows,etc...). during this time our govt. has offered incentives to drive people out of rural existence and into a rural one. the why is simple: people who are more self-sufficient don't need or want govt. intrusion in their daily lives. people in urban areas are brought up to believe that this "regulation" is our govt. taking care of us, and is the way it has always been. when the govt. controls the food supply systems, they control us.

It'll be a while. But with fatty fat kids itll happen when they get to around 30-40 and we have diabetic folks everywhere and all the baby boomers are geezery.

Gov't just want to take more and more control.

Im moving out I think.

The goal of the government is to control every facet of your life. Excluding nothing. They have already determined how much water you can have in your toilet.

It is time to put a stop to this. We must do it: they will not stop on their own.

It is time for a Washington Tea Party.

It's inevitable. People that don't appreciate their freedom give it away. Eventually, we'll be too opressed, and have another revolution to reclaim our freedom. Then we'll slide into oppression again over the next couple hundred years and the cycle will continue.

I'm sorry, but it's MY LIFE. If I want to be fat, that's My business. I think, because of all the useless lawsuits coming down from manufacturers about TV commercials puting weight on people, it has come down to this.I LOVE chocolate!
