I believe that when you're CONTENT with yourself, with your life and with your beliefs, then you're happy. So I guess it IS the same thing. ^__^

Yes, there is a difference. I'm content with single life right now but I'm not really happy with it. Happy and content are 2 very different things.

I think there is a difference, contentment is like you settle for whatever is handed to you in life. Your cool with your partner, job, money, kids, ect. Without really analyzing and noticing if you are truly truly happy. Happiness is when you wakr up every morning completly happy with a smile n your face and life always seems like a peace of warm apple pie, or whatever desert you have in mind. But see happiness is a set of mind as well so contentment can be changed if you desired!

They're related, but separate concepts. Contentment indicates a lack of desire. You're content because you're needs are being met and you don't want for anything. Happiness is a state of elation often brought on by achieving a desires, and thus requires longing.

I think being content is along the lines with settling. Being content is being 'okay' with something, but being happy is truly being 'happy' with something. I think that are completely different.

I don't think they are the same thing. If you are content with something, I think it just means that you are comfortable with the way things are, not necessarily happy or unhappy. If you are happy you are more than comfortable with it, you enjoy it.

Contentment can be a permanent state, whereas happiness can't: once you achieve it, it dissapears. And you need the contrast of unhapiness to recognize it.
Contentment is the opposite: it means to be ok, without the peaks and valleys of being happy and unhappy.
Contentment, in Asia, is "to hold on to, and let go of everything, all at once." That is, to be attached and unattached simultaneously.

i don't, contentment is sort of like security, having all your bills paid, a nice house to live in, a nice car to drive. and happiness is more of a mood. happy today and sad tomorrow. you can still be content when you are unhappy.
