It only matters because too many young people look at these idiots as role models and try to imitate their lives.
It is also important to know if they try to put forth a political agenda.

Because people either are obsessed with a celebrity, or their own lives are that boring. It's just like people care what celebrities wear on the red carpet, like they would be able to afford it anyway. It's like they care about seeing their children, their diet secrets, the shampoo and make-up they wear. It's silly, but a lot of people care.

because they are bored and like to fill up/ waste time in their own lives by being caught up on what all the celebrities are doing. Lame.
they're just ppl like us.
ppl should go out and have experiences of their own and chat about that instead of others.

i'm not a sort of folk. despite if or not a individual is gay is their employer and in elementary terms their employer. it is not significant despite if or not they seem to be a celeb or not. it isn't the employer of anybody. yet, to respond to your question, people care as a results of fact they are nosy and ignorant.
