It's not racism since Americans are not a "race."
Part of the difference is education levels. Does anyone else get the feeling that being "intelligent" in the US is considered a handicap (witness Gore being 'too clever' and people preferring to vote for Bush, 'the common man')? The United States has a deliberate act to act foolish. Wouldn't want to be "nerds", "geeks", "snobs" etc. When spending is emphasized over culture and political awareness as the social meter, is it any wonder? Look at Paris Hilton.
To be fair, most Americans also work inhuman hours, and spend the rest of their time either exhausted or trying to relax by simplifying the rest of the world. Europeans tend to forget that Americans can't help it.

You should ask those around you and see what you come up with over there.
I can only tell you what I have heard from people and my own experiences over here:
It has been said that -
Parisians STINK due to not bathing and not using deodorant. I've been told that many don't THINK about shaving either.
Then there were times that the germans were FINKS
I know Spaniards and Italians are known for their beautiful TRINKets, exquisite artwork in addition to their wonderful culinary arts.
and of course we know the english are famous for their QUEENS ( Royal or not).
However - When the word "think" comes to mind visa vie the Europeans it is always evident that they do THINK ~ (about themselves) ~ more often than not!
U are certainly NOT an example of having the ability to think OR express yourself intelligently!
Now Hear This:
Most Europeans who CAN - become US citizens!
The only time I might agree with you about Americans being stupid is when we offer countries way TOO much foreign aid, the opportunity of being educated here and allowing foreigners to become a citizen prior to proving their worth during the probationary period. Working for a set amount of time should be a pre-requisite.
When in need of the BEST surgical care - there is no question - all of the world leaders come to the USA for our "stupid" doctors to operate on them..
I'm sure that most of your fellow Europeans would be appalled at your ignorance in addition to the nerve you have to speak on their behalf.
You've got a lot of reading to do. Do you know how to read???
If you really THINK we are stupid you really are not thinking!

I think what is unfortunate is that Americans are starting to be associated with our government and president. It wasn't that way in the past. And, GWB got re-elected, after being one of the worst presidents in history. Which means that millions of American's voted for him. So, we all get lumped together.
The fact that we are behind the rest of the world in many endeavors doesn't help.
Shoot, I'm an American, and I feel like 60% of Americans are idiots. So, it's an easy assumption to make...

Not everyone in Europe shares your opinion, although reasons could be the Bush administration, the endless TV shows and the lack of multilingual Americans... good luck!

I do not know why you, in Europe, think Americans are stupid. It would be better to ask your fellow Europeans.

BIAS People need to respect others worldwide. Everyone wants a peaceful world, but they want to bring their biased opinions with them and their discrimination. People find they want to be superior to their fellowman, not realizing we all get dressed in the same manner and use the toilet the same. You are no better than me and I am no better than you. Also, our political system may lead to confusion and people refuse to become educated to other political systems except their own. Therefore you have a narrow minded society. Education seems to cure the worlds ills, so let's try to educate ourselves a little each day on others policies and beliefs.

it is indeed a global phenomenon. the rest of the world does think that america is stupid. simply because they do not really care what happens to the world, but the world cared what america thinks/does.
most would rather read about paris hilton than the happenings in east timor. and teens from other countries cares so much about what's hot and what's not in america.
