I believe Israel, while having the right to secure its borders, should have asked the legitimate Lebanese government to step in and secure the release of its soldier from Hezbollah. Not doing so takes away from the rights of the Lebanese within their borders. Right now Israel is acting like a parent from the '50's with a 'do as I say not as I do' mentality.

Lebanon, like all nations, has a responsibility to maintain control over its territory, to ensure that it is not used for attacks on other nations. Not only have they failed at this, they have included Hezbollah in their government and given over the southern part of their country to them. This effectively surrenders Lebanese sovereignty over that territory, and international law permits ANY other power to intervene. There is no legal question about the right of a neighboring nation that is being attacked from that lawless region to use armed force, enter that territory, and end the attacks.
Also, Hezbollah routinely disregards international law (the Geneva Conventions specifically) by placing weapons, personnel, and equipment in residences and residential areas. If someone in a time of war hides a tank in your garage, your garage is a legitimate military target, and the guilt over civilian lives lost in any attack should fall on the group that hid the tank there, not the group that attacked it. Remember, when you see civilian deaths in Lebanon (and often Iraq, because Muslim extremists do the same there), it is usually because they have tolerated the presence of weapons, equipment, and personnel in or near their homes. It is Hezbollah, not Israel, that defies international humanitarian law in those episodes. These civilian deaths are the used-up human shields of terrorists. The blame for their deaths lies with those who used them that way, not with the Israelis.

The only way you can exterminate rates is go where they live, Hezbollah shouldn't live among the people they are hiding behind them, and Israel tries to spear the public, but it isn't always possible. Is Hezbollah doing right trying to destroy Israel and every man, woman, and child, that is what they constantly try to do.

They have the right to defend themselves like the US was in Iraq. They also have the right in wanting their people (sailors) back. But I don't think they should target civilians. The hard thing about it is, who is apart of Hezbollah and who is an innocent.
