Well, we definetly wouldn't fly off the surface, that's for sure. Once the earth stopped, we would be come much heavier because we no longer have the centrifugal force trying to throw us off the surface. Then, the side exposed to the sun would eventually become to hot for anything to survive and the dark side would become very cold. The terminator (Where the light and dark meet) may be livable because of the mixture of the cold and hot air from either side would even out. It would probably be very rainy in that area as well. Any way you look at it, it would be an extinction scale event (we would all die). By the way, the rotation of the earth slows down every year, so it will eventually come to a stop in a few million years.

Well one things for sure, we would NOT go flying off into space. The mass of the Earth is the cause of gravity.
What would happen is half the Earth would freeze and the other half would burn up. But that's my guess.

Smutulator had already asked a similar question earlier.

It rotate itself and rotate the sun.

If it stops spinning no day or night. Only day in one side and night in one side. This will create unlivable conditions and we all have evolve to adjust to the new conditions. Not all species will die.

If stops rotating around the Sun Domesday. we will fall in to the sun. Evolution stops guaranteed
