oh i have been lucky to only do it once and it is never easy but i would do it again i have had to learn to deal with death from my ferrets and they are troopers and i have not had to put one under yet they are fighter and i let them tell me when their ready and if their in pain oh man i will be at the vet first thing, i had to go and have my moms dog put to sleep it was hard because i had just lost my dad one ferret and my husky i had for 11year so i was not on a good path and my mom couldn't stay she had to leave and i believe that they shouldn't half to be alone i gave him a kiss and held his little paw and the vet told me what would happen and may happen and they gave him the shot and he closed his eyes and slept to heaven...i gave him one more kiss and new that he was sick and we had to do what was best for him....it never easy but i thank god we get that option because i watched my dad die and if i could have i would have said put him to sleep i had to wait 3 days.

Will you help stop the pain by not buying any more pets at the stores, but adopting instead? Will you stop the pain by supporting those of us that think it is wrong for every Tom, Dick and Harry to want to be a breeder of this kind of pet or that?
Will you help stop the pain of every abused animal or every animal that needs veterinary care and doesn't get it, because the owner is either ignorant or too tight or just plain heartless?
Euthanasia, done in a humane fashion, ends the pain for lots of animals that are terminally ill. It'll take a lot of work to eradicate those cases where an animal has to be put down because noone wants it, because there are so many of them and not enough owners care enough to have their pets spayed/neutered.
THINK!!!!

I think euthanasia is the best choice for animals who are suffering in pain. The poor animal doesn't know why he hurts or what's happening to him - I think putting them to sleep isn't cruel at all. Yes, it's a very hard thing to do, but it's also needed for the animals that are only going to be in pain for the rest of their lives. I had to put my cat (that had cancer) to sleep, who I loved very much. It was really hard to do, but now I'm glad that I did it.
Basically - if you love an animal, you don't want to see them in pain. Euthanasia is the only choice to put them out of their suffering completely.

the pain never goes away because you love them. It's a VERY hard thing to do, and your not a bad person if you delay the process. But in the long run, if they are suffering and you have to put them too sleep, just remember that you are taking away their pain, and they will love you more for that :)

Euthanasia is designed to stop the pain and suffering in an animal. It's the final act of love you can show any animal in pain. Agreed, it's a difficult decision because selfishly, we (humans)want out animals with us to love, but when an animals quality of life is such that he/she is in misery, it is the kindest thing to do.

I agree with the others...it is very sad though that we have to put healthy animals to sleep because there are not enough homes for them all due to careless owners and pet overpopulation. It is the worst to see healthy animals put to sleep!

Putting them to sleep does not hurt them. My rottie passed away in my arms at the vet office, and she was relieved not to be in pain any more. It hurt me way more than it hurt her.

Euthanasia is not painful and should be an option for humans, too.
