Judging (at least in this sense) doesn't require any thought or compassion - it is a gut thing that just spews thoughtlessly out of a person.
Where a judge in a court of law must weigh all factors and come to an intelligent conclusion, this isn't the case in the way people sit in judgment on each other in daily life.
People base things on their past experiences, or what other people have told them (right or wrong), or simply on what their first impression is of a person or a race or a circumstance. It requires no conscious thought at all.
Our brains naturally tend to categorize - it's just a physiological fact - information must be classified and filed in whatever your brain considers an orderly fashion. We can't help that this happens.
What we CAN do, is be aware of it as a fact, and work to change how we, personally, choose to classify things. Education is a great tool for this effort; not only does it give us more real information to base our decisions on, it also tends to broaden our horizons and give us a chance to look at differing viewpoints.
You can change how you yourself look at things, and may even be able to influence the way the people closest to you do - but don't make the mistake of sitting in judgment yourself on those who are not yet as enlightened.

People are lazy and people are insecure. I have found that most of the judgement that goes on in the world is a defense mechanism mastered by those who are afraid of being judged themselves. Its lame...bethe bigger person and live your life well and you will reap what you sow...

Because judging others doesn't require you to look into your own heart. Trying to understand means you need to put yourself in the place of the other person.

I don't know. Sorry I can't help because I wonder the same thing. I don't believe life is every man for himself. I think it is about working together.
Live and let live. Simple as that!

Judgment, to me is all ego. When you make a statement like
'Why are people so lazy', that is very judgmental.......
People who judge don't care.
People who care don't judge.

Maybe because in your perception when they judge it makes them right, and when they understand might mean that they aren't right all the time.
