to get attention, its a buzz and it feeds the ego. It can get obsessive to the point where they no longer think about what they are doing but they crave the attention so much that they have to feed the monster no matter what that takes.
If nobody paid them any notice for what they did then they would lose their fix, though the comedown would lead them to depression and thoughts of suicide, look at Michael Barrymore, he fed of this kind of attention and look where that led him.
The problem is that they can get to a point where they have no self worth or identity outside of the stupid things they do, which is why this kind of thing can lead to substance abuse.

sometimes people need validation. Sometimes people need praise. Sometimes people are just big time lonely in their head. I think these people are crazy and half the time, losers. I used to want to be famous but look at celebs today and ask yourself, what the hell do they do that's so great? I don't see alot of talent. There's some, naturally but God if everyone in the public eye is 'worthy' then we're all screwed. It's all abit sad really.

simple.....to get attention. Some of them do it strategically to get what they want OR to get out of a mess. Either way, the reason why they seek fame and notoriety is because they actually GAIn something valuable out of it.

They seek satisfaction in thier own progress. They feel safe knowing that they will be remembered for something. Usually they cant see that it makes them look bad because they see only the acknowledgement, not the glorifying event itself.

People have a stong emotional need for three things: security, stimulation and identity. Once security is assured (ie. you have food and shelter) people go looking for stimulation and identity. I think this is at the root of a lot of the extreme behavior we see al lover the world.
