My baby is 10 weeks old and I bought him juice suitable for 4+ months. It is PURE juice from the baby section of the supermarket. I have just diluted it by adding cool boiled water and he is perfectly ok. In this way he is not constantly 'eating' milk just because he is thirsty, and is slowly getting used to a new taste. If he doesn't like a particular juice eg apple because it is sour, try something different and you drink the juice instead. There is nothing wrong with that. Just keep a close eye on him i.e his bowel movement etc. You know your baby best.

At 14 months, a child should be eating real food, not the jarred baby stuff. Try offering her a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. A little cheese and yogurt would be good too. If the doctor says she is healthy enough to eat what you eat, then feed it to her. If not, he'll tell you what kinds of foods your daughter needs. It could be, that she needs a specialized diet. Once on the diet the doctor gives you, you should see a big difference in her appearance, appetite, attention and weight. My youngest wouldn't eat anything for the longest time. She was finally diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Once she started the proper medication, her appetite improved, and she started gaining the weight she needed. She's now 7 years old, and healthy as a horse.

I have a 2 month old and he just had his 8 week check up. He eats between 6-8 oz of formula. The doctor said to give him water and if I wanted to I could give him diluted baby juice- half juice, half water.

Babies shouldn't have juice until they are AT LEAST 6-7 months old. When they do get juice make sure it's 100% juice and you dilute it with water at least 50/50, you can add more water if you choose.

Babies, under 10 mo., should be given anything to drink other than formula or breastmilk....there little tummies just can't handle it. It, too, can delay teeth coming in, especially if the sugar from the juice is affecting the gums.

Babies under 6 months old don't need anything other than breastmilk or formula. Apparently formula babies need a bit of cooled boiled water on hot days, but I'm not too sure about that because i'm breastfeeding

No!! A baby under the age of 6 months should get *nothing* but breastfeeding. Formula is the *only* other acceptable food until 6 months of age.

Yes there is. Any shop that sells baby food will sell these drinks. They are sugar free but they just add a little flavour to the water. It is healthy for your baby to drink other fluids other than formula or breast milk. Cooled boiled water is also good.

One person already mentioned watered down juice...just make sure you never give a baby under a year old anything containing honey. There is a bacteria in it that cannot be processed by babies & can kill them. (Check the label on the bottle of honey-the info is there.)

You need to give babies "juice" because milk is their food. I gave my daughter pure orange juice diluted with cool boiled water. The health visitor said this was fine and is stops them from getting constipated and obviously dehydrated.
