At least he has a plan to improve education...No Child Left Behind.. I'm not convinced it will have any effect on improving education but at I have yet to hear of any plan by the Democrats. Check their website, they are "for" a stronger education but they provide no ideas of how they would accomplish this.

Many areas have what are called "Charter Schools" these are the testing grounds and have proven a very valuable source information. The GOP has supported and funded these programs as part of the N.C.L.B plan.

and David c once again..he is not cutting the buget, he is cutting the INCREASE in the budget from $172M to $166M

The system is already broken. There is no competition. Most parents have no choice in where there children go to school. If the school is bad, there is no recourse. Vouchers may help.

The 'new' techniques are the same 'old' techniques with new names. To be fair, the break-down in public education is not only the 'system' but the parenting as well. Personal responsibility has been removed. Teachers are given the responsibility but no authority. Conversely, parents have the authority, but no responsibility.

The education system in the US must be completely revamped. It is garbage. Most kids are so damned stupid they can't write their own name.

Start by getting rid of the teachers union. Pure garbage and a socialist organization.

I so agree with you. In LA the Mayor is trying to take over the school district, with no specific plan whatsoever, and I have the same problem with that.
