It is unfortunate that President Bush has broken down and is now pandering to a group that has been against him from the start. The NAACP has turned from the liberator of our African American Community to the perpetuator of its victim and entitlement mentality, and his cool reception just proves that the only reason they invited him was to demonize him. My question is why did he decide to do this after resisting since 2000?

Just because they are against him does not mean he shouldn't talk to them. He's not against them, they're against him.
He's taking the higher road. Just goes to show that he's a gentleman.

He was trying to keep the tradition of Republican footinthemouthism from dying? A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and when you're wasted out of your mind, you don't have one.

OR as so eloquently rephrased by former Vice President Dan Quayle while speaking to the United ***** College Fund, “What a waste it is to lose one's mind. Or not to have a mind is being very wasteful. How true that is.”

He's scared of losing votes for the Republican party and its trying to pander to any group that will listen to what they want to hear. It seems like lately he makes a bunch of promises to groups that he doesn't even personally agree with just for political points. I don't get it.

He's pandering for Black votes for Republican's this upcoming election. Why else would he do it now after turning them down 5 years in a row. Polititians SUCK.

I couldn't agree with you more - but let's just hope that he successfully portrays the message he needs to portray...which should be that we all need to work together in honesty, trust, and with a real desire to better our country and the world. Let's face it though, it's not likely they're gonna give a crap about anything he says cause they're just as prejudiced as they claim others are. Very sad state we live in today.

Hes trying to help the party. We are close to taking the minority vote away from libs so its really smart that he do this. He won with no black vote so this can only help us in the future

maybe you haven't noticed the "minorities" are slowly becoming the majority, that vote will be very important in about 30 years, hopefully we can settle our differences, but only time will tell.
