Because without God there's no reason for us to even be on this planet! What's the point?

I think that people need God to have a direction life. All religions have a set of rules or guidelines that if you follow this path you will find enlightenment so to speak. The concept of a higher being controlling your destiny doesn't sit well with everyone, and this is why there are so many denominations. Not all religions have a single god as some have many. The need for God, to me, seems forced in some religions. I also believe that some of the people that are "Bible Thumpers" are weak minded and easily swayed to believe that because they attend church that they are better then the people that don't. Religion is, and always will be, the cause of conflicts, wars, love, hate, peace ,and chaos. No one has it right and no one probably will ever have it right.

Because there are essentially two options: 1. There is a God 2. There is not a God. If there is no God and I live a good life or a bad life the end is the same. . . nothing. If there is a God then if I live a bad life or I don't believe then I will suffer eternally, yet if I did believe and followed the basic rules then I will have eternal pleasure.
The consequence of being wrong is greater if there is a God than being wrong and there not being a God.

If there is a God and Jesus is real, why do we need Him? And why can't all people go to heaven? Isn't being good or sincere sufficient enough to get me to heaven?
To answer these questions, we must answer others first. Is man inherently good? That is, does he have a good nature? Or is God in all people? Does God favor some people over others? Do we have a free will? To answer these questions we must turn again to the Bible. We need to see how God created man, what happened to him, and what is his relationship to God and eternity.

Because it is too difficult to fathom an infinite universe, that always was and always will be. People also need to feel that they are significant and have purpose. If there was no God to create them then we really are the same as every other piece of matter in the universe, no more significant than dirt, dinosaurs, or anything else. Finally, while it seems impossible to fathom infinity of the universe and matter, it seems impossible or too frightening that we die and cease to exist, that we with our self awareness will no longer be aware.

The first man is born and the dawn of civilization has begun.
The sun comes up the light is on. There must be a God and he turned on the light.
God = Good
The sun goes down and the light is off. The boogey man turned it off.
boogey man = bad.
The Sun God is born and people are safe.
The boogey man comes out at night so people get terrified.
Kind of silly but when you think about it....

I think most of us are born with this belief and idea that there is someone named GOD and we think that we need him . Some people talk to God as they feel they are alone and sad . When you are alone , sad or depressed you feel someone near you . You feel that someone or I'd better say God, is listening to and watching you . I myself am born with this belief and habit without searching whether there is a God !
Truly yours
Good Luck Friend

Because they would rather believe an all powerful, all knowing being is in charge of this universe. That way, when something horrible happens, whether it's small or big, they can think God's in charge, and He knows what He's doing, so they can get on with their lives.

its a way to explain what they don't understand or can't be explained, and when things go wrong or anything bad happens people just blame god. To lots of people they look to him for hope because "god" could make everything better.

Our existence do not depend on us. God is our only hope to face the future and to end worry in our lives.
