La Reine Margot by Alexander Dumas because it just made me cry. First it makes you fall in love with one of the characters and then it tears you away from them in the end...Wonderful, just Wondeful.

Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry

An incredible saga of the American Old West. The characters are so real you feel like you know them. This book is amazing and just sucks you right in. I've read it 3 times and never get tired of it.

Comanche Moon by Larry McMurtry is also a must read.

Walking on Glass by Iain Banks

Fantastic - it is such a subtle story, written by such a 'real' writer. I love all his books in fact, but this one is my favourite. The ending blew my mind!
