yes... i mean if you didn't have the money it's OK, but if you didn't and you just didn't do it then that's a insult!

Not really, perhaps the deceased never wanted one, or perhaps the family can't afford one.
Many UK graveyard owners, will not allow them these days either. There are some pretty stringent rules, about the size of gravestones and the amount of wording on them too.
The grave is not where the person rests, they are gone on to the Father and in the light. The deceased, is though, always in the families hearts and memories, and they need no marker to return to.
If it bothers you, if you are family, then mark the place yourself if the churchwardens will allow you to. Or mark it with flowers every now and then.
If you are not related, then perhaps there are reasons as yet unknown to you, that are delaying things, or, have stopped the family proceeding with erecting one.
And sadly, perhaps it doesn't even matter to them, or perhaps they just forgot!
It happens!

Depends on the reason. Lack of finances? The dude didn't actually want a gravestone? Can't decide what to write on it? Or nobody cared enough to bother? If the other reasons don't apply and nobody cared enough to bother then yeah, its an insult. But maybe its intended to be an insult because of something the person did or did not do during life.

Not an insult. I guess it depends on your financial situation. If you cannot afford it, start saving just a little at a time. If the deceased was ever in the Armed Forces the government will provide you with a grave marker ( a flat bronze plate with name and dates and service info). Check with the cemetery for options.

It could be a sign of being disrespectful, however do you know all the facts? The family may not be able to afford a headstone. they are a lot of money. If it is money, and you would like a headstone for your friends/family grave then maybe you could do some sponsored things to help raise some cash. have a remembrance party and ask friends if they would like to make a donation or something.
good luck.

I would hate for anyone to spend time and money on my decaying body, dead is dead, no amount of remembering or stone erecting will change anything. Spend the money on a bottle of Margaux, preferably a great vintage and drink to their memory. Me, I would love that, but being dead, i wouldn't really be able to give a damn, would I? There's only one erection the dead appreciate and that's the one that brings them flying back to this world where they enter the castle of life within.

Not necessarily. If the family is unable to afford it, how can that be a blatant insult? Perhaps they wish to remember the decedant with a simple plaque or memorial - it doesn't mean they don't care. People just have different ways of doing things.

There could be circumstances that you don't know about - maybe the family can't afford the gravestone, etc. 5 years is a kind of long time, but I'm sure the person would appreciate having their family's bills paid more than a marble slab.

if you cant afford to get one, no that's not a insult. after all the person does not know it. they are not alert to know what is going on in this world. just get one when you can or at least a marker to let people know where the grave is .

No. You don't need a cold stone to remember a person you loved.
